Project: New Year’s Décor

The countdown to 2015 is on, but there’s still time to work out some stylish special effects for your New Year's Eve soiree. Whether you’re short on time, or want to indulge fully in DIY, here are a couple easy and affordable ideas to add the crowning touch of glam to your party atmosphere.

1. Whispery-thin string lights are mesmerizing and elegant when placed inside a glass vessel. Get a few strands from Mod Cloth ($21) and tuck them inside glass jars and bowls around your space to give a warm glow.

2. Glitzy confetti fortune pockets:
For the DIY set, try making glamorous paper pouches that house festive confetti and fortunes inside for guests to tear open as they ring in the New Year. All you need is some glitzy wrapping paper cut into 3-4” triangles, glue, confetti, fortunes printed onto copy paper and cut into individual strips. You can follow this easy to do tutorial here.

3. Glitter ball drink stirrers
No party is complete without a nod to the classic disco ball. Here are some clever and glamorous little drink stirrers found on Etsy that will add the requisite bling to your New Year’s cocktails. ($21.)

4. Sequined Letter Garland DIY
Anything sequined is destined to make a splash at a New Years’ celebration. All you need to make this glittery and elegant “Cheers” garland is cardboard, hot glue, scissors, and strips of sequined trim. Check out the full tutorial here.
